Profile
I have 12 years of academic training and 8 years of research experience in the field of wildlife ecology and management. I have extensive field-based research and analytical experience, which I have gained from past positions as a field technician, graduate student, and biologist. I have worked in roles for government, non-profit, and academic institutions across various regions in Canada including northern Alberta, central British Columbia, southern Ontario, and Nunavut.
My research specifically focuses on ducks as a model species; however, I have a keen interest in the ecology of all wildlife. My work combines the collection of field data, including the planning and coordination of research teams, and extensive analysis using complex statistical models and spatial analysis. I conduct the majority of my analysis in R, including spatial analysis, but also frequently use QGIS. I have been involved with grant and permit writing and reporting; project management, including writing budgets, field work coordination, field work, and the procurement of research equipment; statistical and spatial analysis of field data; mentoring fellow students; and writing manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications.
My career goals are to find a position that will allow me to use, and expand upon, my current skill set through research and teaching. My ideal position would combine teaching and research with an opportunity for data collection and statistical and spatial analysis that contributes to the management of wildlife in Canada.
